On Tuesday, September 3, Spain reported 349 cases of monkeypox so far in 2024, surpassing the 323 cases recorded in all of 2023.
Con These new data now total 8,193 confirmed cases of Mpox infection since the start of the outbreak in April 2022, from 17 Autonomous Communities.
Following the WHO’s declaration of an international public health emergency due to the monkeypox outbreak, international organisations have implemented various mechanisms to stop and deal with new cases.
The European Union has not taken extraordinary measures such as border control or general vaccination of the population, but it has intensified other processes, such as epidemiological surveillance and selective immunization.
