7:31 am: In Panama, separate days for men and women
Half the week, only men can go shopping. The other is the women’s turn. Panama has just implemented this unusual measure to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Panama has so far closed its borders, suspended classes, barred entry to foreigners, and implemented mandatory containment, with outings limited to two hours per day for essential purchases. But without distinction of sex.
Men are now allowed to leave their homes to go to the supermarket or pharmacy on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while women can do so on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And on Sundays, no one goes out, without exception.
