Spain publishes list for Eurocopa without Sergio Ramos and no Real Madrid player | international football

Defender Sergio Ramos is the great absent in Spain’s squad for Euro 2020. According to coach Luis Enrique, the Real Madrid player, who has four World Cups and three euros played in his résumé, is not in physical condition.

– He can’t compete or train. I called him yesterday, it was hard and tough. He helps the selection a lot and can do it again in the future, but I look for the benefit of the group and my admiration for him is very great – said Luis Enrique

The coach also didn’t call Carvajal (he is recovering from an injury), and so no Real Madrid player was called for the first time in history (Lucas Vázquez, another who could be summoned, is also hurt).

– If Carvajal and Sergio Ramos were well, they would have come. I don’t make the list because of that (whether or not the player plays for Real Madrid) – guaranteed Luis Enrique.

The novelty on the list is the presence of defender Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City), who has already played for the French under-21 team, but was able to defend Spain for the first time. Another detail was that Luis Enrique called only 24 athletes instead of 26, as allowed by UEFA.

Spain are in Group E of the Euro Cup alongside Poland, Slovakia and Sweden, who are opponents of their debut on June 14 in Seville.

Spain squad list:

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón, David de Gea and Robert Sánchez;

Defenders: José Gayàm Jordi Alba, Pau Torres, Laporte, Eric Garcia, Diego Llorente, Azpilicueta and Marcos Llorente;

Socks: Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Pedri, Thiago Alcántara, Koke and Fabián Ruiz;

Attackers: Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal, Álvaro Morata, Gerard Moreno, Ferrán Torres, Adama Traoré and Pablo Sarabia.
