Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Spain won the 2023 Women’s World Cup, after defeating England 1-0, in the final match that was held at Australia Stadium in Sydney, on Sunday.
Spain’s goal came through Olga Carmona in the 29th minute of the match, with a shot from inside the penalty area.
Spain’s victory in the Women’s World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, is the first of its kind in the history of the team’s participation in the tournament.
While the England national team achieved runner-up status for the first time in the world’s largest tournaments in terms of women’s football.
