Spain imposes quarantine for people arriving from abroad

From Friday and throughout the duration of the state of emergency in Spain, those arriving from abroad will be subject to a 14-day quarantine, according to a government decision released on Tuesday.

“The favorable development of the situation epidemiological in our country and the start of deconfinement require a strengthening of control measures, “says the government in its text.

A measure in effect at least until May 24

These people in solitary confinement will only be allowed to go out to buy necessities or seek treatment, always while wearing a mask. Are excluded from this provision cross-border workers, Freight carriers, airline crews and caregivers if they come to Spain to work, but only if they have not been in contact with people who have Covid-19.

This decree will be in effect from Friday and until the end of the state of emergency, in effect until May 24 but which could be extended. During their quarantine, these people “may be contacted by the health services for their follow-up,” said the government’s text.
Spain, one of the countries most affected by the pandemic in the world with nearly 27,000 deaths, had already closed its land borders at the start of the state of emergency in March.
