Despite ongoing negotiations on Gibraltar’s future relations with the EU, which appear to be on the right track, the Spanish cabinet decided on Monday to abandon the measure rather than extend it.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Gibraltarian government said it wanted the measures affecting citizens on both sides of the border to be sustainable and prepared to continue. “However,” he continued, “because compensation is an essential element of these agreements, which would not work without coordination and reimbursement provisions, etc., the HMGoG has no choice but to stop it as well. until it is treated. in Gibraltar this applies. “
