In Debrecen (Hungary), the final match of the Women’s Euro 2023 took place, in which the national teams of Ukraine and Spain met.
The Spaniards were the unconditional favorites of the confrontation and confirmed this status already in the 1st minute. Dubitskaya knocked down Dani in her goalie, after which a penalty kick was awarded to our goal. The captain of Fury Rohi Peke opened the scoring from the six-meter mark.
The Spaniards continued to attack our goal aggressively, and the goalkeeper Kislova had to demonstrate her reaction several times. But she couldn’t help out either, when Samper ran into the counterattack and shot past our goalkeeper. Babenko tried to save the situation, but only corrected the ball into the goal.
The Ukrainians tried to put pressure on their opponents with active pressure, but the skilled Spaniards confidently controlled the ball. And before the break, Fury Roja scored one more goal. De Paz ran out to counterattack and, unopposed, landed the finishing blow. And after the resumption of the game, Samper increased the advantage of her team. This time, de Paz made an assist.
After that, the game calmed down. But the “blue-yellows”, nevertheless, decided to make their opponents work hard and, eight minutes before the end of the second half, they switched to the game from the fifth field. And they still managed to soak the score: after Shulga’s hit, the rebound disoriented the goalkeeper. A few moments later, Dani sent the ball into the empty net of the Ukrainian national team and set the final score.
The Spanish national team won the third European Championship, and the blue-yellows became vice-champions for the first time.
