Spain: Angry flood victims threw mud in Letitia – They demand the resignation of Sanchez (Video) –

Spain’s Queen Letizia, with mud on her face, listened to desperate and angry citizens shouting at her as dozens of citizens surrounded her and King Felipe VI as they toured with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in the hardest-hit Valencia suburb of Paiporta from the deadly floods.

The crowd threw mud and objects at him and called them: “murderers”, while demanding the resignation of Pedro Sánchez. “The world is dying and now you are coming” protested the residents, who have been trying to clean their houses for six days and feel that the institutions have abandoned them. “Go away, we’ve lost everything,” was heard.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez hastily left Valencia as the crowd furiously hit his car, damaging it, while Felipe and Letitia instead stayed in the area and listened to outraged residents. Letitia appeared to lose it for a moment as the cameras caught her breaking down in tears.

The president of the local government of Valencia is targeted

Carlos Mathon, the president of Valencia’s local government belonging to the conservative People’s Party (PP), who is responsible for coordinating all actions in the region, was also pelted by the angry crowd.

Some citizens are also calling for his resignation, accusing him of mishandling, including the choice not to activate Protocol 3, which would have passed coordination to the sole responsibility of Pedro Sanchez’s central government. Instead, Mathon on the evening of Saturday 2/11 invited the heads of seven ministries to come under his orders.

It is noted that, based on Spain’s federal state system, the president of any local government is responsible for coordinating all actions in the affected area.

The dead from the devastating floods have reached 217, while at the same time the search for rescued and missing people continues.
