The vaccination campaign against covid-19 In Spain it has reached the milestone of having half of the population vaccinated with at least one dose, after a daily day in which the record of 680,540 serums has been injected, and finally 15 million immunized people have been exceeded.

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, highlighted, in a press conference after the Interterritorial Health Council with the communities, that The data shows that Spain has achieved “two new milestones” of a campaign that “is advancing like a shot” and has pointed to the arrival of more than 4 million doses this week.

According to Health data, 23,772,029 citizens are already protected with at least one serum against the coronavirus, so that the figure represents 50.1% of the population.

Of this figure, 8,633,590 have been inoculated with the first shield and 15,138,439 (31.9% of the population) have received the complete vaccine.

However, the figure of more than 15 million immunized people has been reached a few days later than calculated by the Government, which was expected to be reached last week.

Darias has also highlighted that In the last week, Spain has once again exceeded more than 3 million serums administered and that vaccination by age groups shows that the campaign “continues at cruising speed.”

In this sense, he pointed out that Those over 40 years of age are protected with some serum at 81.9% and immunized with the complete vaccine at 47%.

Those over 70 years of age are almost completely immunized, an issue that Darias has highlighted since, as he said, Spain has been one of the first countries to immunize vulnerable groups, mainly residents and those over 80 years of age.

More than 93% in the 60 to 69-year-old group have at least one injected IV and 34.6% have the complete regimen.

This group is further behind since it was vaccinated mainly with AstraZeneca, whose schedule between doses is about 12 weeks, although some communities have chosen to reduce this period to speed up immunization in the presence of the delta variant.

Thus, in immunization they are more advanced in the 50 to 59 age group with almost 60% of citizens with the complete vaccine shield, while 83.6% have the protection of some serum.

Vaccination of 40 to 49 years old is also advancing with 54.6% with some injected prophylaxis and 16.4% immunized.

Some communities are already vaccinating in the 30 to 39 age group, while the Canary Islands are entering the 20 to 29 age group and Ceuta has today been the first territory to do so.

All communities, as well as Ceuta and Melilla, have already exceeded the threshold of 50% of their population over 12 years of age vaccinated with at least one serum, with Asturias in the lead and close to 70% (68.5%).

Likewise, all territories are above 30% in the immunization of the population over 12 years of age and Asturias, once again, is in the lead with 43.8%.

“The path to normality”

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has spoken after having surpassed fifteen million people vaccinated with the complete schedule and 50 percent of the population with at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Spain and has appreciated the great work of health professionals.

“The great work of health professionals opens the way to normality”the leader of the Executive has written in his profile on the social network Twitter.

After referring to the rate of vaccination in Spain, Sánchez assured that the country is “close to herd immunity” and, by extension, to recover and “keep moving forward.”

Two million passports

Furthermore, Darias has reported that The issuance of covid certificates is going at a “very good pace” Just over a week after it is mandatory in Europe, “In Spain more than two million have already been issued.”

At a press conference, Darias considered this figure a “true success” for the National Health System and added that nearly 30,000 certificates issued by other countries have also been recognized in Spain through the SpTH platform.

Darias has stressed that Spain moves forward with a “safe and firm step” to guarantee mobility in the European environment in a “progressive and safe” manner.
