The Spanish Olympic team has complicated its adventure at the Paris 2024 Games by losing to Egypt at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium in Bordeaux, where Santi Denia fielded a completely alternative team.
Spain paid dearly for their missed opportunities and massive rotation – up to 10 changes to the starting eleven compared to the last match – with a 1-2 defeat that sends La Roja to second place in Group C, which means they will have to play the top team in Group D (presumably Japan) in the quarter-finals. Samu Omorodion scored Spain’s goal in the closing stages of the match.

With this result, Egypt has seven points and is now the top team in its group, one point ahead of Spain. Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic have been eliminated.
