“SpaceX Successfully Launches Falcon 9 Rocket with Starlink Satellites”

SpaceX, the aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded by Elon Musk, has successfully launched its Falcon 9 rocket with a payload of 23 Starlink internet satellites. The launch took place on Monday, March 4, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. This comes just a day after SpaceX sent Crew-8 into low-Earth orbit on a mission to the International Space Station.

The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Launch Complex 40 and deployed the Starlink satellites into orbit. Unlike previous launches, no local sonic booms were expected during this mission. After liftoff, the rocket’s first-stage booster targeted a landing aboard a drone ship called A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean, which it successfully accomplished.

The weather conditions at Cape Canaveral were favorable, with an 80% chance of a “go for launch” forecast by the Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron. However, dense fog in northern Brevard County posed visibility challenges for spectators across the Space Coast.

This launch marked the 13th flight for the Falcon 9 first-stage booster used by SpaceX. Following stage separation, the booster was expected to land on the drone ship approximately 8 minutes and 15 seconds after liftoff.

Prior to the launch, SpaceX provided a behind-the-scenes rundown of the remaining countdown timeline. This included second-stage liquid oxygen loading, engine chill, final prelaunch checks by the flight computer, propellant tank pressurization, and engine ignition sequence.

Just an hour before this launch, another SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket had successfully launched Sidus Space’s satellite, LizzieSat-1, from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The rocket was part of the Transporter-10 rideshare mission and was expected to deploy a total of 53 payloads.

The Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron had identified some concerns for the primary launch window, including the Cumulus Cloud Rule and the Anvil Cloud Rules. However, these concerns did not hinder the successful liftoff of the Falcon 9 rocket.
