SpaceX launches the first civilian space flight

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26, 2024 (Xinhua) On Tuesday, SpaceX aims to launch the first commercial spaceflight carrying ordinary civilians.

Four civilians are scheduled to launch the so-called “Polaris Dawn” mission at 3:38 a.m. ET Tuesday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

This will be the first manned space flight for the crew, who will attempt during their multi-day journey to orbit, with the Dragon spacecraft, the farthest point from Earth since to reach the Apollo program and participate in the first ever commercial spaceflight, according to SpaceX.

The team also conducts 36 research studies and experiments from 31 partner institutions aimed at improving human health on Earth and during long space missions, and tests Starlink satellites used for laser links in space, according to the company.
