The four-man crew is scheduled to launch for their mission on September 15, aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from the Florida coast.

While the mission will continue to show how far space exploration has come, SpaceX’s launch for all civilians also has a human point of view.

The mission plans to “inspire support for St. Children’s Research Hospital. Jude and sent a message of possibility to humanity while heralding a new era of human spaceflight and exploration.”

What is the launch time?
An exact takeoff time has not been determined, but SpaceX said the crew would launch from the Florida coast on September 15.

The first civilian crew will be launched aboard the orbiting Falcon 9 rocket aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft of Historic Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center of Florida.

The team met on September 3 for a “flight readiness review” and was given a “Go” to proceed with the launch. According to SpaceX, the official launch window will be set three days before liftoff to allow for a better assessment of weather conditions, boarding passes, and landing locations.

The proposed launch opportunity is set for September 16th.

Who’s on the crew?
Jared Isakman: The 38-year-old billionaire, founder/CEO of Shift4 Payments and the top jet pilot who funded the flight will lead the mission. This will achieve the Inspiration leadership pillar4.

In part he said of his role: “In fulfilling a personal and lifelong dream, I recognize the great responsibility that comes with leading this mission.”

Hayley Arsino: A 29-year-old childhood cancer survivor who now works at St. Jude, the hospital system that helped save his life, will serve as the mission’s medic. Chosen to achieve the Pillars of Inspiration 4 Hope.

Chris Sembrowski: The 41-year-old aviation industry employee and US Air Force veteran who was “raised with a natural curiosity about space” will serve as mission specialist. Chosen to achieve Pillar of Inspiration 4 for Generosity.

Dr Sian Proctor: The 51-year-old entrepreneur, educator and trained pilot and an “active voice in the space exploration community” will serve as the mission pilot. Chosen to reach Pillar of Inspiration 4 Towards Prosperity.

How is the crew selected?
It all started in March 2021, when SpaceX announced that Isaacman had purchased and donated three mission chairs to it. The plan was to find crew members who became pillars of the mission of leadership, hope, generosity, and prosperity.

The “Hope” seat has been reserved for St Jude Hospital employees whose mission it is to raise funds, but the other two seats are available to anyone who applies.

How will the task work?
Taking off from Launch Complex 39A at Cape Canaveral is just the start for a crew of four who have yet to undergo long-term astronaut training. Once in space, the crew will embark on a multi-day journey in low-Earth orbit at over 17,000 miles per hour.

On top of the Crew Dragon capsule, the civilian crew He will also conduct experiments “Designed to expand our knowledge of the universe.” According to SpaceX, this research will look at the effects of outer space on the human body.

The data collected will then be used to reveal potential human health applications for future spaceflight and its benefits to those on Earth. Crew members will also be studied by the Translational Research Institute for Space Health and Weill Cornell Medicine.

What do you know about spaceships?
The Crew Dragon spacecraft used on the Inspiration4 mission will be the same type of capsule used by NASA astronauts under the space agency’s Commercial Crew Program. But there will be a little twist.

A glass dome has been added to Crew Dragon to give crew members a 360-degree view of outer space. The dome is positioned where the space station’s docking system normally goes, noting that this element is not required for the Inspiration4 mission.

Why is this the task of making history?
While companies like Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin have sent crews of fast flights and suborbital excursions, the crew of SpaceX Inspiration4 will be the first civilian crew to take off on an orbital mission.

Unlike the others, Isaacman, Arceneaux, Sembroski, and Proctor will be alone in space for a few days while they do their research.

How do non-astronauts go to space?
With lots and lots of commercial training for astronauts. Since announcing the crew earlier this year, SpaceX has said they are “very focused on training and mission preparation.”

During the six-month training period, the four crew members completed centrifugal training, Crew Dragon simulation, launch control, Zero-G aircraft training, altitude training, class time and medical tests.

“This focused preparation was critical to developing the team and preparing them to assume their role as the first commercial crew to orbit Earth,” SpaceX wrote.

The crew also added a team-building activity to climb Mount Rainer in Washington state to their training roster to help the group feel uncomfortable with each other.
