SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launches Starlink Satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Update: SpaceX is now targeting a launch for this mission at 9:55 p.m. EST, Wednesday, August 16.

The SpaceX team at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida is on track to launch a Falcon 9 rocket on Wednesday, Aug. 16, with another batch of the company’s Starlink satellites online. Watch FLORIDA TODAY’s live launch coverage from 90 minutes before liftoff.

Launch was set for 8:14 p.m. EST, but the weather wasn’t looking good at the time, so there’s a chance a later launch will fit into a four-hour launch window.

This will be Space Coast’s 42nd launch this year.

When did SpaceX launch:

Liftoff is set for 8:14 p.m. EST with the four-hour launch window on Wednesday extended to midnight. Should the team need it, another launch opportunity will become available around the same time, 24 hours later on Thursday, August 17th.

What is the weather forecast for launch:

The last Space Force forecaster reported the weather to be 20% “off” when the window was open but will increase to 65% eventually.

Here’s everything you need to know:

It will host Launch Complex 40 from the Cape Canaveral space station. The payload is the company’s next batch of Starlink satellites to be sent over the Internet. The 230-foot Falcon 9 rocket will follow a southeastern trajectory between Florida and the Bahamas.

If launched on time, it will mark Space Coast’s 42nd launch this year. No local sonic hack bang with this job. The 130-foot first-stage booster will target the unmanned craft, which will land about eight minutes after liftoff.

When is the next launch date?

The next Falcon 9 scheduled to lift off from Florida will send NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the International Space Station from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Liftoff is scheduled for 3:49 a.m. EST, Friday, August 25. NASA astronaut Jasmine Mogbili, ESA astronaut Andreas Mugensen, along with JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and Roscosmos astronaut Konstantin Borisov will fly on SpaceX’s Endurance Dragon capsule to the space station for a six-month science mission.

Previously, SpaceX was able to schedule another Falcon 9 Starlink mission from Cape, but no specific launch date has been announced.
