The first stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket exploded while trying to land a drone ferry in the Atlantic Ocean. Shortly before he finished the descent, the propeller flipped over, falling into the sea. The incident took place on the night of the 27th.
This is the first time since February 2021 that Elon Musk’s company has failed to recover one of its reusable propellants. The company is the only one to use rocket-stage propellants that can be recovered after launch – a very important development in aerospace.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, SpaceX posted “after a successful ascent, the Falcon 9’s boost level came in after landing on the drone raft. Crews are getting access to the data to enhance and aircraft status.”
In the live broadcast of the show, it was possible to see the arrival of the propellant and then the start of the fire. Shortly after, the rocket overshot, causing an explosion that was seen in the video.
Then, SpaceX chose to forgo the launch of another Starlink mission that would be launched later. The idea was to give the team more time to review the landing data from the booster used on the previous Falcon 9.
“A new date for this release will be shared as soon as it becomes available,” the company posted on X.
