The SpaceX Dragon CRS-22 mission is the second supply ship to dock autonomously on the ISS.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAPE CANAVERAL– A cargo SpaceX Dragon arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday (5/6) to send panel surya along with many new research experiments and NASA supplies as part of the company’s 22nd supply mission.
SpaceX Dragon autonomous The unmanned one is connected to the orbiting laboratory at 05.09 a.m. EDT or 09.09 GMT, parked on the zenith side or facing out into space, of the Harmony station module. The docking occurred about 40 hours after Dragon’s launch on a Falcon 9 rocket Thursday (3/6) from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. At the time of docking the two spacecraft were sailing about 258 miles (415 km) over the South Pacific Ocean.
“It was a great approach and it’s great to see it come in. We’re delighted it’s here,” NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough told flight controllers after docking. Space, Sunday (6/6).
Kimbrough continues, looking forward to all the science and other stuff that is brought along with our EVA solar panels. It’s going to be a great few weeks as the astronauts step into Dragon and unload everything inside.
Mission SpaceX Dragon CRS-22 is the second supply ship to dock with the International Space Station without the assistance of astronauts. Usually astronauts use the Canadarm2 robotic arm to grip closed cargo that goes in and attaches it manually to the station. However, the two early Expeditioners 65-Kimbrough and fellow NASA astronaut Megan McArthur- did monitor the docking from inside the Cupola observatory.
The arrival of the upgraded Dragon CRS-22 cargo spacecraft will bring the total number of SpaceX vehicles to two. A different Crew Dragon spacecraft, which carried four astronauts to the space station in April on the Crew-2 mission, is also currently docked in the Harmony module.
This Dragon Cargo is SpaceX’s second supply vehicle to independently dock with the space station. That’s a new feature thanks to several redesigns SpaceX has made for the Dragon cargo spacecraft.
