Spyros Rizopoulos has announced his complete withdrawal from the faction he founded claiming the Region of Epirus.
More specifically, the former regional councilor reportedly disagrees with the choices of the new leadership group of “Horizons of Epirus” and for this reason decided to retire as a member, thus definitively closing the chapter of his engagement with the citizens of Epirus.
In the same announcement, Mr. Rizopoulos, as a citizen now, also refers to the summons he received from the judiciary in order to testify in two cases concerning the Region of Epirus.
Mr. Rizopoulos’ announcement states in detail:
“First fact: on Monday, February 5, 2024 in the capacity of the elected Regional Councilor and Leader of the Faction in the Regional Council of Epirus for the period 2019-2023 and now as a citizen I came to testify as a prosecution witness at the Criminal Court of Halandri for a case concerning direct assignments to relatives of the Regional Authority .
Second fact: on Wednesday February 7, 2024 in the capacity of the elected Regional Councilor and Leader of the Division in the Regional Council of Epirus for the period 2019-2023 and now as a citizen I came to testify at the Criminal Court of Chalandri for ex officio proceedings of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ioannina which is carried out on the occasion of 29/9 /2021 my placement for environmental degradation as a result of environmental abuse from grazing in Drakolimni.
Third fact: for reasons of principle and disagreement on substance with the choices of the leadership group, I have decided to withdraw as a member of the faction I founded. I do not wish even with my formal presence to consent to its transformation into a mere label.
On the path they have carved they are now free to walk without the emotional pressure of my own personal history and journey.
This is how my last public chapter closes, freeing me from the responsibility of apologizing for their wrong choices.
My political interventions will now be completely personal.”
