S&P Merval Index Drops 2.62% as Argentine Company Shares Post Losses in New York

The S&P Merval index fell 2.62% today, ending five consecutive sessions with gains, on a day in which the shares of Argentine companies listed in New York also posted losses of up to 2.7%.

In the Buenos Aires square, the losses of the shares that make up the leading panel were led by Aluar (-4.65%); Banco Macro (-4.11%); BBVA Argentina (-4.09%); Telecom Argentina (-3.96%); and Central Puerto (-3.94%).

Meanwhile, the only paper that closed in the green was that of Transportadora Gas del Norte (0.27%).

On Wall Street, the shares of Argentine companies ended the session with the majority of results in the red, including Corporación América (-2.7%); Central Port (-2.5%); Tenaris (-2.3%); Banco Macro (-1.9%); and BBVA Argentina (-1.8%).

Ternium closed with positive numbers (3.1%); Take off (2.1%); Globant (1.4%); Black Hill (1%); and Irsa (0.7%).

In the fixed-income segment, dollar bonds ended with falls of 40 cents on average, while CER-adjusted peso titles traded with ups and downs: the short tranche closed with average gains of 0.7%, the medium de fell 1%, while the long tranche rose 1%.

Within this framework, the country risk rose 0.6% to settle at 2,657 basis points.
