The president of Sporting de Braga, António Salvador, defended this Monday, regarding the clauses in the contract for the transfer of footballer David Carmo to FC Porto, associated with sports performance, that the practice does not jeopardize the integrity of competitions.
David Carmo headed to FC Porto, Sporting de Braga’s opponent in the Portuguese I Liga, in a transfer made for 20 million euros, plus 2.5 million possible in variables, and it is expected that Braga will receive 500 thousand euros each time David Carmo (contracted until 2027 with FC Porto) to be national champion with the blues and whites.
«The inclusion of clauses associated with individual and/or collective performance has been a common practice for many years, both at the national level and in the main European championships, without resulting in any evidence that compromises the integrity of competitions», says the manager, in a statement issued on Monday morning.
«Never, in almost 20 years in the presidency, have I allowed any contract concluded with third parties to interfere with coaches and players, as all those who have passed through Sp. Braga and who found in this house an absolute and uncompromising commitment to the competition and to the maximum responsibility of, in each game, honoring the name of this club, taking the field to win, wherever and whenever, against whoever it is» , concludes the leader.
