Sozopol’s winning streak was interrupted by Asenovets after a 2:0 success in a match of the 3rd round of the Southeast Third League.
The executive director of Sozopol, Rumen Dimov, commented on the loss.
“The first and main reason for our first loss in the championship is within us. The defeat is particularly painful because it came after two consecutive victories away from home, achieved with a very good game. It also hurts because we lost at home – at Arena Sozopol. We didn’t play well and we have to admit that. There was a lot of nervousness in the boys’ game. Perhaps it was caused by the great desire to win in front of our own audience. Perhaps there was also a hint of underestimation, because before the match everyone was convinced that we would win easily, and as it turned out – there are no easy matches in the Third League!” Dimov commented to the official website of FC Sozopol.
“Another important reason is the poor condition of the turf at Arena Sozopol. And how could it not be bad, after so many matches of children’s tournaments were played on it, and two fest-concerts were organized, which prevented the pitch from being watered for six whole days in the terribly hot weather. People who are far from this matter will say – what is the terrain?! It is the same for both teams. No, it isn’t. When you are dominant on the pitch, when you are leading the game, looking for speed and dynamism through quick plays with one or two touches of the ball, when you are constantly looking for the opponent’s goal, building good attacks, one of the most important prerequisites is precisely a good pitch. The bad guy helps the defending team. Asenovets deserved the victory and therefore we can congratulate them. They used their two chances and realized them!” added the head of the club.
“The third reason is not in us, but maybe in the third team on the field. We usually say we won’t comment on them, but they really are a very important part of the game. And I will not comment on them!”, concluded Rumen Dimov.
Stoyan Slavkov scored in the 27th minute and gave the guests an advance in the result. Halybryam Kurmadge scored a second goal in the 81st minute.
After this match, the team from Asenovgrad is 11th with 4 points, while the “vampires” are 7th with an asset of 6 points.
In the next round, the “sky blues” visit the last in the table, Sekirovo.
