The Integration Directorate promotes activities that allow the cohesion of communities and bring public services closer to them. As part of this, this Saturday the first Integrating Communities Festival was held at the España Complex, in the district of Soyapango, San Salvador Este. The activity was supervised by the ad honorem president of said institution, Alejandro Gutman.
“It fills me with emotion to see thousands of Salvadorans, from the age of 7 to the age of 90, coming from such different communities that were so opposed due to violence, being today enjoying, getting to know each other, learning and teaching from each other; representing their colonies feeling that they can be a contribution and a source of pride,” said Gutman.
In this activity participated residents of the La Campanera distribution, Las Margaritas urbanization, 22 de April and Santa Eduviges colonies, of Soyapango; St. Bartholomew and Veracruz, of Ilopango; and of the cantons of Azacualpa, San Isidro, Divisadero, Panchimalquito, and Panchimalco.
Around 2,000 people took part in this festival, where they represented their communities in athletics, football and basketball competitions. In addition, there were theatrical performances, a singing contest, a painting exhibition and lots of fun for the children.
Simultaneously, an Integra Fair was also held in the Nombre de Jesús district, in Chalatenango Sur, where different services were brought to the residents of the place, including medical care from the Ministry of Health, with extramural vaccination, and legal advice from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
“These activities have a fundamental objective, which is the emotional, intellectual, educational, health, and artistic flourishing of Salvadorans for true development,” Gutman emphasized.
