Sowan Jokowi at the Palace, Said Aqil Discusses the Congress to FPI

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

General Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama General Manager (PBNU) Said Aqil Siraj and President Joko Widodo discussed a number of radicalism issues at the Jakarta Presidential Palace. One of the things they discussed was the disbandment of the Islamic Defenders Front (Front Pembela Islam, or the Islamic Defenders Front).REIT).

Said praised the government’s work in countering radicalism and terrorism. He said these efforts had not been made in the previous administration.

“In the problem of tackling terrorism radicalism, the disbandment of HTI, FPI, and Detachment continues to carry out their duties properly, especially after the killing of Ali Kalora. We also appreciate the President,” said Said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, as quoted from the audio recording received on Wednesday ( 6/10).

Said said the meeting also emphasized the attitude of PBNU and the government that they did not want to be influenced by outside interests. For example, in Indonesia’s attitude towards the independence of Palestine.

He said Jokowi and PBNU firmly support an independent Palestine. Said emphasized that PBNU would not cooperate with Israel as long as it did not recognize Palestine.

“As long as Israel does not recognize the state of Palestine, then Indonesia will not recognize the state of Israel politically,” he said.

Said also praised the government’s policy achievements. He appreciated the Covid-19 vaccination program, infrastructure development, and the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

The meeting also discussed the 34th NU Congress in Lampung, later this year. Said said that PBNU hoped for Jokowi’s support in the event.

“It’s not the candidate’s support, it’s the congress support so that it runs smoothly,” said Said, who plans to run again as the General Chair of PBNU.
