Soviet-era dissident Skobov was detained in St. Petersburg

The dissident was detained in the apartment of human rights activist Yuliya Rybakov and his wife Ekaterina Molostvova, where he was visiting at the time.

Skobov is charged with “collaboration in terrorist activity”, reports the web publication “Fontanka”.

The investigator and the accompanying employees of the Ministry of the Interior did not allow the 66-year-old Skobov to take his vitally necessary diabetes medication with him, Rybakov told “Fontanka”.

“Skobov did not write anything about the terrorist attack in Crocus, however, he commented a lot on Russian-Ukrainian relations,” Rybakov said.

Back in the days of the Soviet regime, in 1978, Skobov was arrested for participating in the work of the “Left Opposition” group and publishing an anti-Soviet magazine.

Later, he was placed in a psychiatric hospital by court order, which could only be left during Gorbachev’s “thaw” in 1987.

According to the information of the “Okna” project, an administrative case has been initiated against Skobov for participating in an “undesirable organization” – the Free Russia Forum.

On March 22, the Russian authorities declared Skobov a “foreign agent”.
