Sovereign Duplantis also ruled in Lausanne – Sport.cz

The amazing pole vaulter was competing for the first time since the Olympic Games in Paris, where he won his second Olympic gold in a row with a world record of 625 centimeters. In the city race, the American Sam Kendricks kept up with him for the longest time, who also jumped up to 592 centimeters without stopping. But Duplantis succeeded for the first time even at six meters, while the American failed at this height.

Duplantis then raised the bar to 615. He broke on the third attempt and took care of the best pole vault performance ever on Swiss soil. “I was getting a bit tired, but I’m very grateful to the audience. I love jumping here. I had good times here last time and even better this year,” rejoiced Duplantis, who then finished the competition.

The third place was shared with a performance of 582 cm for the first time by three pole vaulters – Kurtis Marschall from Australia, Ernesto Obiena and Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen.

The main program will be held on Thursday. European champion and fourth Olympic javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch will also take part.
