Souvenirs of film icons Monroe and Hepburn sold at auction

Numerous souvenirs of Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962), Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) and Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) have been sold at auction in Los Angeles. As part of the “Hollywood Legends” auction, an evening dress by Monroe from the musical film “There’s No Business Like Show Business” achieved over $ 218,000 (around 216,000 euros), as the auction house Julien’s Auctions announced on Saturday (local time).

A Givenchy wool suit worn by Hepburn in the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s fetched more than $156,000. A brooch given to her mother by Taylor fetched $25,000.

Two glittery costumes worn by Monroe and her co-star Jane Russell from the movie “Let’s Blondes” fetched a combined $102,000. Monroe’s ear clips from promotional photos for the film “How to Make a Millionaire?” brought in $81,000. The star’s handwritten notes from Lee Strasberg’s acting class went under the hammer for just under $19,000.

As part of the four-day “Hollywood Legends” auction, over 1,400 memorabilia of stars and film classics are to be auctioned until Monday.
