Souvenir Vendors Evicted from Dumbo in Second Clearing by Parks Department

Yesterday, Parks Department officers cleared almost all of the souvenir vendors from Washington Street in Dumbo.

This is the second eviction of vendors since the order to evacuate bridges and tunnels came into force on January 3.

Residents of this section of Brooklyn complained about the arrival of these vendors, pointing out that their tables impeded pedestrian passage.

Many of these workers arrived from the Brooklyn Bridge, where they were removed last week.

The evictions in Dumbo began on Wednesday and continued yesterday morning, when police ordered unlicensed or inadequately licensed suppliers of T-shirts and tote bags to remove their belongings.

The Parks Department monitors the stretch of sidewalk in front of Anchorage Plaza where the vendors were located.
