Afghanistan cricket team will reportedly visit India for a short tour in June after the conclusion of the World Test Championship (WTC). The exact outline of the tour is yet to be decided. An official announcement is expected from the cricket boards in this regard soon.
Afghanistan has not been able to tour major countries since the Taliban took over the country. The Taliban did not allow the women’s cricket team to play, making matters worse. However, India has always shared cordial relations with Afghanistan over cricket.
Afghanistan were also scheduled to tour Australia for a Test match in 2020. However, the match was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The series was then canceled by Cricket Australia due to the Taliban’s interference in women’s cricket in Afghanistan.
Australia withdrew from a bilateral series against Afghanistan in January 2023. This has even led to leading players like Rashid Khan threatening to quit the Big Bash League (BBL).
