Southampton –
Premier League at the start of the 20200/2021 season there were many surprises. One of them is the newest, Southampton at the top of the standings!
Previously, Everton and Aston Villa were a surprise. Two teams, which are not the favorites to win, can advance to the top flight Premier League Standings.
The only other big teams are Liverpool who are still consistent. Manchester City temporarily knocked out of the top five. Moreover, Manchester United are currently in 15th place.
Southampton temporarily victorious. When entertaining Newcastle in St. Petersburg Mary’s Stadium in the eighth week of the Premier League, Saturday (7/11/2020) early morning WIB. The Saints reap the full points through the 2-0 victory.
With that victory, Che Adams et al temporarily occupied the top Premier League Standings. It was the first time since 32 years ago!
The last time they led the standings in the top division of the Premier League was on September 16, 1988.
Of the eight matches, Southampton have won five, drawn once and lost twice. They have scored 16 goals and conceded 12 goals, while their total points are 16 points equal to Liverpool but slightly ahead on goal difference.
“Our fans will love it and they will immortalize photos of the standings,” said Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl after the match as reported. BBC.
“For us this is fun, but it shouldn’t kill hunger to get more. We have to stay hungry and feel everything is possible.”

Southampton is able to provide fierce resistance to big teams. Chelsea were able to be matched 3-3, Aston Villa were beaten 4-3, and Everton were beaten 2-0. Even though at the beginning of the competition, they lost 0-1 to Crystal Palace and 2-5 to Tottenham Hotspur.
Danny Ings is the shining player. The former Liverpool striker has scored five goals and two assists in seven games (but is currently injured). Apart from that, there is still Che Adams, his 24-year-old young striker who looks quite good. He has scored three goals and two assists in eight matches.
