Tenjipalam: The winners of the South Region Inter-College Football Championship to be held at the University of Calicut will be announced today. Calicut (six points), who won both games in the championship semi-final, can become champion if he draws against MG (four) in the final match. If MG wins, he can overcome Calicut and become champion.
The Calicut-MG match is at 3pm. For one, Kannur will face Kerala. On Sunday, Calicut beat Kerala 1-0 and the MG-Kannur match ended in a draw (1-1). Kannur with one point and Kerala with no points were eliminated. In the 97th minute of stoppage time against Kerala, Akbar scored the goal which sealed Calicut’s victory.
In the Kannur-MG match, Kannur took the lead through Vishnu in the 27th minute of the first half. Early in the second half, MG equalized through Sal Anas in the 47th minute.
