South Lampung Health Service Urges Alertness to Cases of Pneumonia – World Health Organization’s Warning

South Lampung (ANTARA) – The Health Service (Dinkes) of South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, appealed to all staff and the public to be alert and alert to cases of pneumonia.

Head of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Division of the South Lampung Health Service, Jamaluddin in Kalianda, Friday, said, following a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) which noted an increase in cases of mysterious pneumonia attacking children in China.

“We appeal to the ranks of the Health Department and the public to try to carry out prevention by immunization to protect themselves from various diseases including pneumonia,” he said.

He also said that his party had coordinated with health promotions, community health centers and cross-sectors to intensify health promotion efforts in the form of health education to increase public knowledge regarding pneumonia.

“Wash your hands regularly, especially after removing mucus, if you are in an area where it is difficult to get water, you can use it hand sanitizer, “Avoid alcohol, alcoholic drinkers are at greater risk of developing pneumonia and other complications,” he said.

He explained that alcohol abuse can also reduce the body’s immunity so that it is unable to fight infections, as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle to improve a person’s immune system.

“You need to do regular exercise, balanced with eating fruit and vegetables, getting enough rest or sleep,” he said.

The South Lampung Health Office has noted that 60 percent of community health centers are implementing smoking cessation programs (UBM), an effort carried out by the health service.
