Tottenham star Son Heung-min, still injured, will not participate in this week’s friendly match between South Korea and Japan, the South Korean federation (KFA) announced.
The controversial call of the forward in the selection, despite being injured, ran the risk of degenerating into a confrontation between his club and the federation.
“If a player can’t play for his club, he can’t play for his country,” protested Tottenham coach José Mourinho.
In a brief statement, the KFA announced on Sunday night that Son will not be part of the team that will face Japan in a friendly in Yokohama on Thursday due to his injury.
