South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Announces Recall of 73,000 Cars by Domestic and Foreign Automakers

SEOUL, Jan. 4, 2024 (Xinhua) – The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said today (Thursday) that six domestic and foreign automakers in South Korea will voluntarily recall about 73,000 cars due to manufacturing defects.

Tesla Korea will recall 63,991 cars of 4 different models, including the “Y” model, due to a software error in the automated driver system, in addition to 1,992 cars of two models, including the “X” to repair the defective door lock system, according to the ministry.

Hyundai Motor Company will recall 2,463 cars of two models, including the G80, due to a defect in the rear wheel drive shaft, while Ford Korea will recall 2,156 Mustang cars due to a failure to warn about running out of brake fluid.

Nissan Korea will recall 1,101 cars of two models, such as the Altima 2.0, due to a defect in the rear view camera system, while Kia will recall 922 Seltos cars to repair the defective airbag system.

Honda Korea will repair defective engine parts in 49 Odyssey small cars.

Car owners can visit repair and service centers to replace defective parts for free.
