South Korean man called thousands of times after his number appears in Netflix series Squid Game | Abroad

According to the otherwise anonymous man, he is called more than four thousand times a day by enthusiastic, mostly young viewers, Yahoo knows. The Netflix series is about a mysterious, deadly survival game where the winner can collect 38 million dollars. It is a fictional story. But viewers who saw a Korean phone number on business cards distributed in the first episode also thought they could participate.

In the real world, it turns out to be the business number of a man from the Gyeonggi province in the northwest of the country. He says that it is mainly children who call him and thus “want to get into the game”. The victim initially thought it was spam calls, until he learned that his number can be seen in the popular series. He also receives countless text messages and photos. He is disappointed with that: he had the same number for more than ten years.

Netflix would now also try to reach him to solve the problem. Squid Game launched September 17 and has nine episodes.
