South Korean academic donates books and collection of oriental films to UAH | UAH

On July 19, the UAH Library received a valuable donation of books and film collections on Korean culture, thanks to the generosity of academic Wonjung Min, from Seoul National University, located in the capital of South Korea. This donation, made during her visit to Chile, marked a significant cultural exchange between both countries, strengthening academic and sociocultural ties between both nations.

The donation included materials covering various aspects of Korean culture, from books on understanding the language and studying it to films reflecting traditions and daily life in the country. These resources enrich the cultural and educational offerings of the Library by providing students and the general public with an opportunity to learn about, explore and understand Asian culture.

In this regard, Guadalupe Ovalle, director of the UAH Library, expressed her gratitude for the valuable donation received, highlighting its relevance for the university community. “I would like to thank this important donation that reaches our library, and I have no doubt that it will be used a lot, since there is a great interest in Asian culture among students. Therefore, I consider that this action is valuable and will be widely used by the student body,” said Olave.

For her part, Wonjung Min, who is visiting Chile as part of an academic tour, expressed her satisfaction at contributing to the expansion of cultural knowledge of her country. “I hope that these books and films will help people learn more about South Korea and foster interest in our traditions,” Min said during the event.

On behalf of Alberto Hurtado University, the Directorate of International Cooperation expressed its gratitude to the South Korean academic, reiterating its commitment to the dissemination and promotion of intercultural interaction and the expansion of knowledge through our UAH Library and the academic programs of the University.
