South Korea wins gold medal in archery

Paris. South Korea won the gold medal in the men’s individual archery event on Sunday to end the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with all the gold medals in the sport by taking all five titles up for grabs.

South Korea’s Kim Woojin won the men’s singles title after beating American silver medallist Brady Ellison 6-5 in the final.

His compatriot Lee Wooseok defeated German Florian Unruh 6-0 in the bronze medal match to complete his country’s exceptional performance in the competition.

With this victory, South Korea won the specialty that eluded it in Tokyo 2020, as the Turkish Mete Gazoz won among the men, but this time Woojin eliminated him in the quarterfinals, depriving him of the opportunity to revalidate his scepter under the five rings.

In the women’s category, Lim Sihyeon had won the gold medal the day before by beating fellow South Korean Nam SuHyeon 7-3 in the final, thus claiming her third gold medal of the Parisian event, having previously won titles as a member of the women’s and mixed teams.

The Asian nation added to its individual triumphs the titles in the men’s and women’s team competition and the mixed competition (doubles) to sweep the archery competition at Paris 2024 with five golds, one silver and one bronze, while France and the United States remained in second place.
