South Korea emerged as the soccer champion Asian Games 2023 after beating Japan 2-1 in the final match at Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium, Saturday (7/10) evening WIB.
This result further confirms South Korea’s status as king at the Asian Games. South Korea won their sixth gold medal at the biggest sporting event in Asia.
The victory over Japan also made South Korea win the Asian Games gold medal for the third time in a row.
South Korea was actually surprised first by Japan in this match. Japan was able to open the scoring after just two minutes of the game thanks to Kotaro Uchino’s goal.
South Korea’s efforts to equalize only came to fruition midway through the first half. Hwang Sun-hong’s team was able to make the score 1-1 after Jeong Woo-yeong shook the Japanese goal.
Taegeuk Warriors were then able to take the lead at the start of the second half. Cho Young-wook’s goal managed to vibrate the Japanese goal to make the score 2-1.
Japan could not score a goal back until the match was over. South Korea could also emerge as winners to win a gold medal from the 2023 Asian Games soccer sport.
Meanwhile, the match for third place was won by Uzbekistan who won 4-0 over Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s four winning goals were scored by Khusayin Norchaev who scored two goals, Alisher Odilov, and Ibrokhim Ibragimov.
