Korea, observation of position announcement next week… The policy of protecting the camp against the heavy offensive amidst differentiation
The temperature difference between Chinyun and Chinhan… “You just couldn’t do it.” “Consider the feelings of the people.”

Representative Han Dong-hoon attended the discussion meeting
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Shin Jun-hee = People Power Party CEO Han Dong-hoon is attending a debate on system improvement to normalize public opinion polls held at the headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul on the 31st. 2024.10.31 hama@yna.co.kr
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Pyeong-cheon = People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon has been silent for two days regarding the recording of a phone call between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Myung Tae-gyun regarding the ‘nomination of former lawmaker Kim Young-seon‘, which was released by the Democratic Party of Korea.
Representative Han did not schedule a public release on the 1st. There has been no statement or Facebook message regarding this yet.
Representative Han did not respond when reporters asked his position on the day before the Democratic Party released a recording of President Yoon’s speech.

It is highly likely that Representative Han, who joined the party at the end of last year, was unaware of the situation related to nominations for local elections and by-elections that took place within the party around the time of the phone call between President Yoon and Mr. Myung (May 9, 2022).
For this reason, it is reported that they will first understand the facts and then organize their position.
A lawmaker close to Representative Han said in a phone call with Yonhap News that day, “I think I will release a message next Monday (the 4th) when the party’s supreme council meeting is held.”
From the perspective of Representative Han, who has been pushing the special inspector general card in relation to the First Lady Kim Kun-hee issue while drawing a line against the opposition party’s special prosecution law, the suspicion of former lawmaker Kim’s interference in the nomination, which was aimed squarely at President Yoon and his wife, is bound to be embarrassing. The ‘First Lady Kim Special Prosecutor’s Act’ includes suspicions of interference in nominations as targets of investigation.
President Yoon Seok-yeol shakes hands with People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong Hae-in = President Yoon Seok-yeol is meeting and shaking hands with Han Dong-hoon, representative of the People Power Party, at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul on the 21st. 2024.10.21 [대통령실 제공. 재판매 및 DB 금지] hihong@yna.co.kr
It is known that Representative Han’s position is to maintain a line differentiating himself from President Yoon by demanding a solution to the First Lady Kim issue as before, but to protect the conservative camp against the opposition’s offensive, which is talking about not only a special prosecutor, but also a shortened term, resignation, and impeachment.
There is a difference in temperature between the pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) and pro-Chin (pro-Han Dong-hoon) circles over the release of this call recording file, which caused a stir in the political world.
The pro-Yoongye position is that there is no legal problem with President Yoon having a private conversation as a non-public official, as it was the day before his inauguration when he spoke on the phone with Myung.
Floor leader Choo Kyung-ho, who is classified as a pro-Yoon group, met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, “Legally, there is no problem,” and “I agree with the legal review results of the party’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee members, who said, ‘It is not a violation of the Public Official Election Act by making phone calls while elected.'” He said.
Rep. Kang Myeong-gu said on SBS Radio, “The President is not a person who can be polite, so he is not the kind of person who can’t refuse harshly,” and added, “That’s why (Mr. Myeong) urged me to do so, so I meant it in a good way.”
Rep. Kang, who was the head of the schedule management team in the secretariat when President Yoon was elected, also said, “(President Yoon) has never received a report from or made an appointment with the nomination management committee member.”
Representative Yoon Sang-hyun, who was the chairman of the diplomatic committee at the time, said that President Yoon never received any reports or instructions regarding nominations while he was president-elect.
On the other hand, the friendly circles say they will not only consider this issue legally, but are keeping a close eye on the possibility that it will act as an additional negative factor for public opinion in terms of public sentiment and morality.
Rep. Han Chin-gye said in a phone call, “Some people are defending this by saying there is no legal problem, but people’s feelings must be taken into consideration.”
Another lawmaker Chin-gye said, “The President’s Office said that President Yoon had cut off contact with Mr. Myeong after the presidential primary, but it was revealed that he had been in contact.” He added, “The party is preemptively telling the people what to do without knowing the exact facts.” “I have no words,” he said.
One key party official said, “It is childish to refute that there is no legal problem just because of a one-day difference. I am concerned because the public may see it as a matter of morality rather than law. We need to see how the public will accept it.”
