The Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) today revealed that in the past 24 hours South Korea has found an additional 1,020 cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections to 64,264.
The number of new cases returned to above 1,000 within three days after 657 new cases were found the day before.
The number of new cases has exceeded 100 for the 58th consecutive day since Nov.8 due to group infections in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. And infection from foreign countries
Last week, the average number of infected people per day reached 941.
Of the newly diagnosed cases, 324 were in Seoul and 260 in Gyeonggi Province.
For an additional 35 cases of HIV infection coming from abroad, the total number of infected people coming from abroad is 5,497.
At the same time, 19 more deaths were reported, bringing the total to death from COVID-19. In South Korea it rose to 981 and the death rate was 1.53%.
The number of healed people increased by 733, bringing the total to 45,240, while the recovered rate was 70.39%.
