Jakarta (ANTARA) – The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) is trying to control the increase in dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in the area by strengthening surveillance and epidemiological investigations of cases and urging residents to continue implementing 3M plus.
“DHF treatment for patients is carried out in health facilities according to clinical management,” said Head of P2P Disease Prevention and Control, South Jakarta Health Sub-Department Dita Fitria in Jakarta, Sunday.
According to him, dengue fever cases in February 2024 in South Jakarta increased by more than 100 percent compared to the previous month from 81 cases to 149 cases.
Dita said that to control dengue cases, her party carried out strengthening surveillance and epidemiological investigations of cases.
“Surveillance” means systematic and continuous observation of data and information about the incidence of disease or health problems.

Apart from that, Dita said, controlling dengue fever cases involves the community in activities to eradicate mosquito nests, the 3M plus movement, namely draining, covering, recycling plus other activities that prevent the breeding and bites of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in various settings.
“As well as strengthening coordination with cross-sectors in handling these cases,” he said.
Dita confirmed that beds in hospitals in South Jakarta could still accommodate dengue fever patients, even though there was a spike in cases.
Previously, Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ani Ruspitawati, said that as of February 19 2024, there had been 627 cases recorded with a DKI Jakarta ratio index of 5.57 per 100,000 population.
According to him, based on weekly case data trends for 2024, there has been an increase in cases compared to the first week of January.

When we entered week 9, case data showed a sharp increase starting in week 5, namely at the beginning of February.
Ani explained that data on the distribution of dengue fever cases in the DKI Jakarta area, namely Central Jakarta with 34 cases, North Jakarta with 74 cases, West Jakarta with 208 cases, South Jakarta with 145 cases, East Jakarta with 161 cases and the Thousand Islands with five cases.
“We continue to monitor developments in dengue cases in every area of Jakarta. “So far, no deaths have been recorded in this case,” said Ani.
