‘South Holland has the most public charging points per household’ – Image and sound – News

The province of South Holland has the most public charging points for electric cars per household. Independer reports this on the basis of data from, among others, the RDW and the RVO. Limburg has the fewest public charging points per household.

In South Holland there are 9.3 public charging points per 1000 households, reports Independer† That is 0.2 more than North Holland and 0.7 more than the province of Utrecht. The province of Flevoland is in fourth place, with 7.2 charging points per 1000 households. The Randstad therefore has the highest density of public charging points, followed by Noord-Brabant with 5.3 and Gelderland with 4.6. Only in Overijssel there are more than 3 charging points per 1000 households, in the other provinces that figure drops below 3.

What is also striking about Independer’s figures is that the number of public charging points per electric car continues to fall. In 2017 there were still 1.1 electric cars per charging point, now there are 4.7. The number of public charging points has risen to 70,000, almost six times as much as in 2015, but over the same period the number of EVs has increased from 7,000 to 243,662, almost 35 times as much. However, the increase in the number of EVs per charging point is weakening. On January 1, 2021, there were 4.6 electric cars per charging point, writes the insurance comparator.

The large representation of the number of public charging points in the Randstad can also be seen in the number of fines for ‘charging station stickers’. These are, for example, EVs that are at charging stations, but are not charging. A Dutch court judged earlier this month that cars must be gone within two hours of being fully loaded, or else face a fine of 95 euros.

In 2021, almost 9,000 fines were issued for parking at a charging station. Almost half of these fines were issued in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. In the capital 1,599 fines were issued for this. In The Hague there were 1,270 and in Rotterdam 1194. These figures were also higher than in 2020.
