South Deux-Sèvres. Coronavirus. A record number of tests on the Monday before Christmas

As the main medical analysis laboratory in the whole of southern Deux-Sèvres, Médilab carried out 1,500 PCR tests on Monday, December 21, to determine whether or not one is positive for the coronavirus.

We offered these PCR tests as soon as they became available from mid-April 2020, explains Dr. Sofiane Inal, doctor-biologist and one of the seven directors of Médilab.

When we started, we had twelve to twenty test requests per day. We now fluctuate from 500 to 800 tests per day. Last Monday there was this peak of 1,500 tests, just before Christmas Eve.

And the Dr Inal to specify:Many people wanted to know if they were positive or not before waking up. Many people thanked us for the results within 48 hours. It allowed them to celebrate Christmas with more freedom.

And for the 1is January ?

Will there be as many candidates for the test before New Years Eve on 1is January ? For the moment, it is a bit early to answer, declared Monday December 28 the Dr Inal.

Médilab is present in Parthenay, Niort (four sampling centers), Chauray, Saint-Maixent and Melle. The laboratory also has a sampling center in La Châtaigneraie in Vendée.
