Early morning hours past midnight.
8 round trip lanes in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.
After the white car passes quickly, a black car with its emergency lights on drives in the opposite direction.
At the time, the driver of the black vehicle was Jim Min-gyu, a South Chungcheong Provincial Council member from the People Power Party.
Representative Ji had an accident where he hit a guardrail and only stopped after running another 1 km, and in the process, he drove in reverse.
The police arrived and attempted a breathalyzer test, but Rep. Ji refused.
Afterwards, the designated driver claimed that he ran away after causing an accident.
As the controversy spread, Rep. Ji eventually admitted to drunk driving on social media five days after the accident.
Representative Ji, who appeared at the police today, bowed his head.

“I would like to apologize for causing further disappointment with my shameful excuse. I will participate more faithfully in the future police investigation and accept appropriate action.”
Local civil society groups called for his expulsion from the party and resignation from his position, saying it was an indulgent apology with police investigation in mind.

“Because he drove drunk, refused to be measured, and lied, he should naturally be expelled from the People Power Party and voluntarily resign regardless of the results…”
The South Chungcheong Provincial Council announced that it will decide whether to refer this matter to the Special Ethics Committee when it is reported to the plenary session held next week.
