This Thursday, June 16 in the morning, nine postmen from Camarès, joined by two agents from Coupiac, went on an indefinite strike in front of the postal site.
Supported by the FO, CGT and Sud Solidaires unions, nine postmen from Camarès and two from Coupiac mobilized. They denounce working conditions which are deteriorating and which, according to them, “impact users”. In question, a new organization which aims to reduce the number of tours and jobs.
“Today, we are on nine tours and they want to increase us to seven and a half!”; explains an agent, determined not to let go. “When we cancel rounds, the kilometer route of postmen that remains to be covered becomes greater as well as the number of letterboxes to be distributed. The other problem is that we find ourselves unable to “Be present when the truck arrives, which causes a delay in distribution. The user is therefore penalized”, continues another agent.
“The reality on the ground is quite different”
“It’s easy from a software to make rounds, but the reality on the ground is quite different. Our working conditions are no longer acceptable, we have come to the end of the day, the reorganization of too much!”, testify two letter carriers .
The agents of La Poste alert by this mobilization the elected representatives of the Monts, Rance and Rougier territory on the endangerment of the public service. “From June 20, the counter in Camarès will be closed on Wednesday and Saturday all day, i.e. the two days of the week when there are the most frequentations!”, Expresses very displeased Cyril Touzet, mayor of Camarès, who sees in this measure a means of weakening the office. He remains determined to fight too.
“Not to be sacrificed below the break-even point”
Many informed mayors of neighboring municipalities came to support the agents with a unanimous message: “We want to continue to live in our rural areas, but not be sacrificed below the profitability threshold”.
Claude Chibaudel, mayor of Montagnol, remarks: “La Poste advocates a strong relationship of proximity with its customers through new services, it is difficult to see how the postmen will be able to carry out this mission with this type of reorganization which pulls down. The discourse becomes completely incoherent!”.
The mayors of Rébourguil and Arnac complain: “Rural dwellers have the same rights to public services as urban dwellers”.
La Poste has “made significant proposals”
On the side of the management of La Poste, we answer: “The new organization has been the subject of an in-depth study of the evolution of mail traffic (down 27% in Camarès since 2020). This organization has led to a dialogue nourished social and working groups with the postmen concerned. Meetings were organized with the social partners. We have taken into account the demands of the mail carriers and made several significant proposals aimed at simplifying the implementation of the new organization”.
For this first day of the strike, a continuity of service plan has been put in place to limit disruptions. For their part, the postmen affirmed that they were ready to continue their strike in an unlimited way until finding a social dialogue which truly takes into account their expectations.
