South Asian countries express solidarity with Russia – 2024-03-30 22:34:47

The countries of South Asia expressed their total condemnation of the recent terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, in the province of Moscow, Russia, with a death toll of 133 and more than 150 injured.

This Sunday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin to express her dismay for the innocent victims and her condemnation of the attack on the Moscow concert hall.

Hasina also offered her prayers for the salvation of the souls of the victims, extended her deepest condolences to their families, and wished the speedy recovery of those who were injured in the attack.

In addition to expressing the solidarity of her people, the dignitary ratified her government’s principle of zero tolerance against all types of terrorism and expressed her desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation to combat this scourge.

In a statement, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as an abhorrent and cowardly act against civilians with no place in civilized society.

Furthermore, he extended the condolences of the government and people of Sri Lanka to the families of the victims, the people and the Russian authorities.

Colombo also advocated the eradication of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and reaffirmed its commitment to the global fight against this scourge, as well as its willingness to collaborate with the international community to address this serious threat to peace and security.

For his part, the Foreign Minister of Maldives, Moosa Zameer, sent a message of condolence to his counterpart Sergei Lavrov with the strong condemnation of the terrorist act and the ratification of Malé’s solidarity and support for Russia.

The day before, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, joined the international condemnation of the attack on the Russian concert hall with a strong condemnation of the event that he described as atrocious.

Also the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar ratified Islamabad’s position on Moscow’s side at this time of national tragedy and described the act as cowardly.
