Argentine defender Cristian Romero has played his 100th game for Tottenham and celebrated with a goal in the 4-0 win over Everton on Saturday.

The centre-back has scored seven goals and provided one assist for Spurs since joining the London club in the European summer of 2022.

In Brighton, Brazilian striker João Pedro scored a goal in the final minutes to give the ‘Seagulls’ a 2-1 victory over Manchester United, temporarily placing themselves second in the table.

Tottenham beat Everton (4-0) to claim their first win of the season.

Argentine defender Cristian Romero, who has played his 100th game for the Spurs, contributed a goal to the home team’s victory.

‘Cuti’ Romero made it 3-0 (71) with a header from a corner kick that hit the crossbar before sneaking into Jordan Pickford’s goal.

The central defender thus reached seven goals and one assist since his arrival at the club in 2022.

The Belgrano-trained footballer was again a starter and played the full 90 minutes of the match.

“A special match and an honour to have played 100 games wearing this shirt,” the Argentine said on social media.

Brazilian midfielder Richarlison also saw action, coming on as a substitute in the second half (66).

With the win, Tottenham managed to stay in the European zone of the table by placing fourth with four points.

Brazilian striker João Pedro scored in the dying seconds to give Brighton all three points after beating Manchester United (2-1).

The Brazilian sealed the home side’s victory (95) with a header from an English cross by Danny Welbeck. The striker, unmarked, shot practically at the feet of Andre Onana, who could do little to prevent the ball from slipping into his goal after bouncing on the grass.

The striker, who scored his first goal this season, has now scored 20 goals in 41 games for Brighton.

“João (Pedro) is a player who can decide the game in one move, but for me it’s like today; the way he works with the ball is impressive,” coach Fabian Hürzeler told local media after the match.

“He was always there, supporting his teammates and he did well in the transition moments. He was convinced that he would score and that makes him special. I am very happy for him,” added the German coach.

The former Fluminense player repeated as a starter and played the entire match.

Meanwhile, Paraguayan striker Julio Enciso came in as a substitute (79) to play the last ten minutes of the match.

For Manchester United, Argentines Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho, and Brazilians Casemiro and Antony, saw action.

Brighton, who claimed their second win of the competition, temporarily moved into second place in the table with six points, the same as leaders Manchester City.
