The South African Sun Downs overturned its delay to a 2-1 victory over its guest, Shabab Belouizdad, to repeat its superiority over the Algerian champion and advance to the semi-finals of the African Football Champions League, with a 6-2 victory on aggregate today, Sunday.
Sun Downs, who won 4-1 in Algeria in the first leg of the quarter-finals, will play Moroccan champions Wydad in the semi-finals.
Sofiane Bouchard gave the visitors the lead in the 24th minute, but Themba Zawni frustrated the Algerian team’s hopes after they equalized moments before the break.
Zabelo Morena added the home side’s second goal four minutes into the second half.
Sun Downs, who won the title in 2016 with Pitso Mosimane, qualified for the semi-finals for the first time since 2019.
