Should have been thrown out, wasn’t that right; South African Super Bowl against Starc

South African star spinner Tabrias Shamsi expressed his displeasure with Aussie superstar Mitchell Starc who did not do it despite having a chance to run out Sri Lankan player Kushal Perera at the non-strikers end in the Sri Lanka-Australia match.

It was in the first over of the match that Starc had an opportunity to dismiss Perera through the famous non-striker’s run-out called Mankading. But Starc did not take a wicket and only gave a warning to the Sri Lankan player. Perera scored only one run at that time.

But the Proteas bowler was unhappy with this. Shamsi said Kushal Perera should have been dismissed and that was the right thing to do.

Shamsi said this while commenting on the video of the incident shared by ICC through social media.

“Starc should have done the right thing by running him out. Bowlers bowl from behind the line. Then the batsmen will also know that they have to stay behind the line,’ Shamsi noted.

Perera, who came to life, seized the opportunity and became the team’s top scorer. The player scored 78 runs off 82 balls. Perhaps if Perera had been out earlier, Sri Lanka would have sunk to a huge defeat.

Along with Perera, opener Path and Nisanga completed half-centuries as Lanka reached the score of 209.

Batting in reply, Australia lost five wickets and overcame the target.

Batting in reply, Australia lost two wickets within four overs and suffered a setback in the beginning. The Aussies lost the wickets of David Warner, who scored 11 runs in six balls, and Steve Smith, who was dismissed for a duck in five balls.

But Mitchell Marsh joined Marnes Labushan who followed and raised the score. Marsh, who scored 52 runs off 51 balls, was run out and Labushan Madhushank, who scored 40 runs off 60 balls, returned with a wicket.

But Jos Inglis, who came in at number five, and Glenn Maxwell, who came in as the finisher, turned the match in favor of the Aussies. This is the Kangaroos’ first win in the 2023 World Cup.

Australia’s next match is on October 20. Pakistan will be the opponents in the match to be held in Chepauk.
