Six teams are competing in the second edition of the tournament to be held in the Rainbow Nation. Chennai Super Kings who won the 2023 IPL season received Rs 20 crore as prize money. The runner-up Gujarat Titans also got Rs 13 crore. The winning team in the second edition of SA20 will receive a prize money of 34 million rand (around Rs. 15 crore). The second-placed team will receive a share of 16.25 million rand (about Rs. 7.2 crore).
The IPL title winner has been paid Rs 20 crore in the last three seasons. In 2020, the prize money was Rs 10 crore. South Africa’s franchise league is currently below the IPL in terms of prize money. Cricket South Africa is working hard to bring the T20 Premier League to the fore.
