South Africa will vaccinate medical personnel with J&J vaccine

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said J & J’s corona vaccine has been shown to be sufficiently effective. The doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that the country has bought is still under investigation. Mkhize said reselling those vaccines is an option.

The spread of the South African corona variety is being monitored with concern worldwide. That variant would also be more contagious. Austria announced tougher measures this week due to a 501Y.V2 outbreak in Tyrol. People who want to leave the state, popular among winter sports enthusiasts, must show a negative test result from Friday.

South Africa has also regulated doses of Pfizer’s corona vaccine, according to Mkhize. The country is still negotiating with Moderna. Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines are also already approved in the EU.
