South Africa: Pargo provides logistics solutions to e-commerce

With digital transformation on the continent, various technology sectors are growing. Online commerce is one of its sectors, and this leads to a need for logistics solutions to facilitate, among other things, deliveries.

Pargo is a digital solution developed by a South African start-up. It allows buyers to connect to major e-commerce brands and have them delivered. The start-up, based in Cape Town, was founded in 2015 by Lars Veul and Derk Hoekert. Earlier this month, Pargo successfully raised $4 million in funding to expand into Egypt.

Speaking about this operation, Lars Veul indicates: “Egypt is one of the most exciting e-commerce markets in Africa, and we are delighted to offer our collection and returns services there. Our mission is simple: to create an affordable e-commerce delivery solution to improve access to the 500 million online shoppers in Africa that e-commerce companies are currently struggling to serve.”

For e-commerce owners, it should be noted that the solution easily integrates with online commerce platforms with Shopify and WooCommerce plugins. In the absence of plugins, it is possible to turn to the programming interface.

For their part, the user, when paying for their online order, opts for Pargo as a delivery method. He will be able to follow the process (fill out the form, provide personal information, etc.) and choose the relay point closest to his geographical location for delivery. The young company has more than 4,500 relay points in its main market, South Africa.

Delivery may take up to three business days from the day Pargo picks up the package. Two additional days will be required for delivery to outlying areas and the recipient has up to 8 days to collect the package. Furthermore, it is possible to go to the Pargo relay points to send or receive parcels. Creating an account on the web platform will allow you to track the package in real time.
